Triple H has confirmed a major change for the King and Queen of the Ring.

Triple H has stated that the winners of the two respective tournaments will receive World Title matches at this year’s SummerSlam event in August.

This is a concept WWE have used before, most notably in 2002, when Brock Lesnar won the annual tournament. Lesnar would then go on to defeat The Rock to become WWE Champion.

Due to this new stipulation, this could mean fans could realistically anticipate matches such as Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Damian Priest vs. Gunther.

The King and Queen of the Ring PLE takes place live from Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.
