Who Will Face U.S. Champion Logan Paul at The Royal Rumble?
A winner has been crowned in the U.S. Title Tournament. Tonight's New Year's Revolution special edition of SmackDown saw Kevin Owens battle Santos Escobar in the finals to determine who gets a title shot against Logan Paul at The Royal Rumble.
The match was a barnburner as KO and Escobar fought in the finals(despite the deceptively titled tournament, the winner wouldn't receive the United States Championship but a title shot).
The bout saw Escobar's new allies, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo, ambushed by the Latino World Order's Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro. Wilde and Toro brawled to the back, giving Owens a fair shot at the title.
Current U.S. Champion Logan Paul provided color commentary during the match. The match went back and forth until KO hit a Stunner and a Pop-Up Powerbomb for the 1-2-3.
After the match, Logan Paul left the announce booth to mock Owens, pointing out how "The Prizefighter" was huffing and puffing after the match. Paul called himself the greatest U.S. Champion in history, boasting he hadn't broken a sweat yet during his 62-day title reign (which isn't difficult as he has yet to defend the title since winning it at Crown Jewel).
Paul made the mistake of getting into the ring with Owens, who kayoed him with a right hand (which remains in a cast following Austin Theory and Grayson Waller breaking it).
Now, fans will have to wait and see whether Owens can topple Logan Paul at The Royal Rumble or Paul will emerge victorious. Are you looking forward to this match? Do you wish that Santos Escobar had won?
