Fans have been under the impression that Roman Reigns vs. The Rock would take place at WrestleMania 41 next year. When the match was scrapped from WrestleMania XL, this seemed like the most logical destination for the dream match.

Well, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), it’s likely that the match will take place at WrestleMania 42 in 2026:

“While nothing is official, Rock vs. Reigns would figure to be Mania 2026, but anything that far out would be subject to a million different unforeseen things that could change it…”

2026 seems a long way away to extend the story, and if this is the case, it will be interesting to see what WWE have planned for Reigns and The Rock at next year’s spectacle.
