What Was McMahon's Statement?
Vince McMahon resigns from WWE as he continues to deal with the fallout from the sex trafficking lawsuit filed against him.
McMahon released the following statement:
“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.
“However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately,”

WWE President Nick Khan contacted WWE staff. Wrestling News' Andrew Ravens reports:
“I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE.”

This resignation comes a day after The Wall Street Journal reported on a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against Vince McMahon and John Laurinatis for sex trafficking. The WWE is also being sued for negligence for allegedly knowing about the illicit behavior mentioned in the case and failing to do anything.
One of the immediate questions is whether Vince McMahon will eventually return. After all, McMahon retired in the summer of 2022 after the hush money scandal broke, only to return to the company at the end of the year, despite the WWEÂ Board of Directors reportedly telling him they didn't think it was a good idea.
