The wrestlers that Brock Lesnar should fight before he hangs up the boots for good.
Brock Lesnar’s days are numbered in WWE. Granted, the former WWE Champion hasn’t give a time frame for his final match. Many even suspect that his match against Cody Rhodes could’ve been his swan song since he went off script and embraced the third-generation star.Â
However, Lesnar is 46 years old, so it would be shocking if he was still in the company ten years (or even five) from now. Despite his time in WWE, there’s still plenty of wrestlers that Brock has yet to fight. With “The Beast Incarnate” being more selective with the opponents he chooses, hopefully these are the ten men that Lesnar picks to wrestle before his retirement.Â
‍
Sami ZaynÂ
There actually seemed to be a point that Lesnar would face Sami Zayn down the line. The former WWE Champion destroyed Sami Zayn in order to get a shot against Roman Reigns at Day 1. There’s history between these two and it could easily be the classic underdog story of David vs. Goliath.Â
Even if the company chooses to ignore Lesnar beating the crap out of Sami Zayn, there’s still a compelling story to tell between these two top stars. Plus, Sami Zayn is a tremendous wrestler, so he’ll definitely bring his A-game. Lesnar typically works best with more agile and smaller opponents, so this could be an all-time great match-up depending on the way it’s booked.Â
‍
Kevin Owens
According to Road Dogg, Owens is the only guy that Brock Lesnar has stated that he would never work against. There was never a reason given why. If this is legitimately true then hopefully Lesnar changes his tune as Kevin Owens is the perfect man to feud with.
The former WWE Universal Champion has the gift of gab and there’s toughness and grit that Owens has where it’s believable that he can get a convincing win over Brock Lesnar. Owens may not fit the underdog role, but he’s a highly skilled athlete who will surely bring out the best in “The Beast Incarnate”Â
‍
Gunther
The fact that this match didn’t happen at this year’s WrestleMania blows my mind. Gunther vs. Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre was an excellent match, but Brock Lesnar vs. Omos felt extremely random and clunky. They even teased Brock vs. Lesnar back at the Royal Rumble!
Brock Lesnar going after the Intercontinental title only boosts the prestige of the secondary championship. But Brock Lesnar doesn’t have to only face Gunther when he’s IC champion. These two have unique contrasting styles that could make for a compelling match. Gunther is a beast inside of the ring and his match against Lesnar would be more of the explosive side like Lesnar past encounters with Samoa Joe or Goldberg.Â
The booking of this match has endless possibilities and it would be a shame if this never came to fruition.Â
‍
Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker is an interesting case. The former NXT Champion has proven himself despite his lack of experience in the business. Though NXT is quite similar to the main roster these days, the jury is still out on whether Breakker can truly make it on Raw or Smackdown.Â
Still, the second generation star deserves a shot in the upper card. A match-up between the two different generations has so much potential. Brock Lesnar isn’t shy about helping up-and-coming stars and this could do wonders for Breakker if booked correctly. Having a young guy go toe-to-toe with the veteran is a classic story, and if they don’t pull the trigger by giving the former NXT Champion the win, it will surely tell everyone whether he’s truly ready for the main roster.Â
‍
Johnny Gargano
Admittedly, Johnny Gargano is pretty cold right now. However, the former NXT Champion is the perfect underdog babyface. Gargano was a huge staple in the black-and-gold era of the brand because he was a master at his craft inside of the ring. There’s a Bryan Danielson quality to Gargano, and it’s a shame that creative has played this on-and-off game with an Ohio native.
If Triple H would’ve tapped into that nature with Gargano then he could’ve been over huge. Regardless, it would be fun to watch the clash of styles between these two, especially the level of storytelling that can come out of this match-up.Â
‍
Sheamus
Surprisingly, the only match these two have had was during a live event in 2020. There’s nothing better than two big dudes beating the crap out of each other. This would be an extremely physical match and it would be shocking if it was anything less than great.
‍
Ricochet
I know this is cheating as these two have already faced each other, but the former United States Champion was done dirty in their Super Showdown match. The build to the match highlighted how little faith the company had in Ricochet on the mic and the match itself was nothing more than an embarrassing squash.Â
They can use that as fuel for a rematch and a better story can be told. Ricochet has gotten a bit better on the microphone, but it would be great if he presented himself as something other than wanting to be a highlight reel. A personal story such as this one can easily do the trick.Â
‍
Solo Sikoa
A coming out party for The Bloodline heavy. Solo Sikoa is on the cusp of being a main event star, but he needs a feud to really push him into that level of status. The story is already there: Lesnar has had issues with the Bloodline faction. Though Sikoa wasn’t in the faction when Lesnar faced Reigns at Summerslam 2022, the story can be as simple as the two butting heads in the Royal Rumble. Like Sheamus, two big dudes beating the crap out of each other will always be entertaining, but this story should have more significance due to Lesnar's history with Reigns.Â
‍
Kofi Kingston
Like Ricochet, Kingston was down dirty, but even worse. Kingston's sudden rise into the main event was the best story leading up to WrestleMania 35. Sadly, his title reign didn’t exactly live up to high expectations, but the former WWE Champion didn’t deserve to be squashed in less than five seconds. It doesn’t help that the company has effectively branded him as a mid-carder for life by not following up with a meaningful story that could’ve led to a rematch between the two. Kingston deserves some closure to this chapter of his career, whether he wins or loses the battle.Â
‍
Logan Paul
Stylistically, this match-up is very intriguing. The heel loudmouth with social media fame vs. the country boy who could tear you to shreds. Sign me up! With Logan’s background in boxing, that could definitely add more flavor to the oddball match-up. Logan works best as a heel, so he should stay that way. This could be Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs. Big Show situation as both Logan Paul and Brock Lesnar fit both of those characteristics perfectly.Â
