Well, nobody saw this coming.

Shawn Spears AKA Tye Dillinger is back in WWE. Spears, who had previously been in AEW as well as WWE returned on last night’s NXT using his AEW name of Shawn Spears.

Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select, subscription required) reports that few in NXT were aware of Spears’ planned return, as one talent noted it was a “complete shock.”

The artist formerly known as Tye Dillinger was not listed on internal documents, and the head of NXT, Shawn Michaels served in his spot for rehearsals before the show.

Fightful Select also reports that the deal has been signed for “some time”, and he was hidden backstage.
