Who Will Call the Action on the Blue Brand?
Time for the latest rumor on the new SmackDown announce team. Former SmackDown announcer Kevin Patrick was pulled last week and subsequently released, with RAW play-by-play commentator Michael Cole showing up on SmackDown. That wasn't the only shake-up as fans watching the 29 January RAW saw Pat McAfee show up. McAfee wasn't just there to bask in the fans' applause. The former NFL kicker turned sports personality is RAW's new color commentator.
So what will the line-up for SmackDown look like? A recent report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio indicated:
“He's not gonna be doing he's not doing Friday much longer. He might not even be doing it this week. At the beginning of the show on Friday last week, Michael Cole said for one week only. So, you know, I mean, I don't know what that means. When I asked about Michael Cole. I was told he's got it for now. But absolutely this is not a permanent thing. I don't know who the new guy is. But I was just told that you know that that is not the case. Michal Cole doing SmackDown [full-time] is not the case. It's like, again. Yeah, it's a one-time thing.”

Now, PWInsider is reporting the WWE has assembled its new team for the blue brand: Corey Graves and Wade Barrett. According to the report, Graves will provide play-by-play, while Barrett will provide color commentary.
The WWE has a record of constant change-ups to its commentary team. Michael Cole seems to be the only constant. Why does the WWE always feel the need to change up its commentary team? Does WWE management think fans get bored with the same commentators? What do you think is the reason?Â
