Will "Tribal Chief" Acknowledge The Rock's Recent Remarks?
Roman Reigns returns to SmackDown this Friday. While he's likely there to hype his Undisputed Championship title defense at The Royal Rumble, the WWE Universe will be paying close attention to hear if he addresses The Rock's remarks on RAW.
The WWE has a big night planned for SmackDown this Friday as it presents its New Year's Revolution edition of the blue brand. Friday's show has several major matches scheduled, including a Triple Threat Match between AJ Styles, LA Knight, and Randy Orton to determine Roman Reigns' opponent for the Rumble. The finals for the United States Tournament will also be held that night as Santos Escobar battles Kevin Owens for a chance at Logan Paul's United States Championship.
However, the biggest moment could involve Roman Reigns, who finds himself at the center of the WWE Universe thanks to some recent remarks from his cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Wrestling News' Andrew Ravens is reporting:
Reigns is also advertised for the SmackDown event on January 19 in Atlanta, GA. WWE confirmed Reigns for Friday’s SmackDown on its website today in a preview article touting “Roman Reigns returns LIVE to SmackDown for New Year's Revolution.”
As WrestleLamia noted in our most recent video, it appears the WWEÂ may finally be setting the stage for a dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns.
Naturally, fans will want to hear if "The Tribal Chief" acknowledges (no pun intended) The Rock's remarks that he might seat himself at "the head of the table" when he goes out for dinner. If so, the WWE Universe can all but confirm the match is on. Where and when remains to be seen and as WrestleLamia recently commented, the fans' dream match of The Rock vs Roman Reigns could be Cody Rhodes' nightmare.
While many members of the WWE Universe are already going bananas over the prospect of a Rock vs Roman match, Reigns hinting at a match with his highly successful cousin could backfire. If Reigns begins dropping hints that he's going to answer his cousin's challenge, savvy fans will likely see Roman's Rumble title defense as an afterthought. Some fans may already feel this way, as the idea of Reigns going into WrestleMania without the Undisputed Championship seems inconceivable. While that may be so, having Reigns talk up a showdown with The Rock could convince fans not to get invested in Roman's Rumble defense.
There are ways to book around this, but whether the WWE does so remains unknown. Do you think The Rock vs Roman Reigns will become a reality? If so, will Reigns address The Rock's comments this Friday?
