On this day in 1999, WCW presented the penultimate event in Slamboree’s eventual eight-year history.

Emanating from the TWA Dome in beautiful St. Louis, Missouri, the nine-match card resembled everything wrong with the fledgling promotion at the time, with Konnan and Stevie Ray’s six-minute match being described by notorious wrestling podcaster Conrad Thompson as “one of the worst matches” he’d ever seen. It was WCW in 1999; that is how you perfectly encompass the general feeling surrounding this event.

Rounded off the event was a WCW World Heavyweight Championship defence that, in true WCW fashion, ended via disqualification and was then re-started. Of course!
