Who will side with Rey and who will side with Santos?

Time for more information on the LWO civil war. While nothing has been confirmed, it's looking like the Latino World Order (LWO) could be split into two groups following Santos Escobar's heel turn on Rey Mysterio. There's been talk of the group's different members taking sides and battling each other including a scenario where the two sides fight for the right to the LWO name or a scenario where Escobar forms his own group. Let's look at the latest speculation and try to piece together where things might go.

Where Things Stand Now

Rey Mysterio is currently dealing with a knee injury, which led to the WWE writing him off TV after Santos Escobar dished out a beatdown on SmackDown. Right now, it appears that every current member of the LWO is standing by Rey's side. The 17 November SmackDown saw Zelina Vega slap Escobar in disgust for his attack on Rey. Later, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro confronted Escobar only for Santos to lay them out.

With this being professional wrestling, this can change in the blink of an eye. There's already discussions amongst fans whether one or more current LWO members will decide to side with Escobar. After all, Escobar and his former friends had a long history on NXT Legado Del Fantasma before they accepted Rey's invitation to form a modern version of the LWO.

Carlito is scheduled to battle Santos Escobar at Survivor Series and fans could see one or more current members of the LWO join Escobar. However, a new report from Dave Meltzer suggests Escobar could get help from elsewhere:

Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo were planned for this at least as of the past week.

Where Things Could End Up

Meltzer laid out a possible scenario for the feud in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

Regarding the LWO split, the original idea was for Wilde & Del Toro to stay with Escobar and feud with Rey & Carlito & a third person. From TV that would make sense to be Dragon Lee, as the idea of Lee being the guy they are hoping can be a future Mysterio-style flying so aligning them doing the endorsement thing would make sense.
The Garzas are the ones who are scheduled at this point to replace Wilde & Del Toro on the Escobar side. There’s speculation of Lopez, who was with Escobar in NXT, being on that side to feud with Vega but that is not at all confirmed.”

Real-life cousins Angel Garza and Humberto Carillo (aka Los Lotharios) have been on NXT of late. A pairing with Escobar could help the talented duo finally break out as a legitimate threat in the tag team division. And what of Elektra Lopez? Lopez was a key figure in Legado Del Fantasma when the group worked in NXT. However, the WWE opted to replace her with Zelina Vega when Legado Del Fantasma jumped to the main roster.

Could fans see Rey Mysterio and his LWO colleagues battle a new version of Legado Del Fantasma? Triple H loves his factions and a battle between these two would fit in with his vision of what fans enjoy.
