What's Next for Talented Star?
Mercedes Mone begins training for an in-ring return, fueling speculation about what's next for her. The wrestler best-known for her work in the WWE as Sasha Banks has been out of action since injuring her ankle at the 21 May New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Resurgence event.
Now, Mone has shared a video showing her training in the ring. This video has Mone fans excited at the prospect of what's next for her.
It's unknown when Mone will return to the ring but now that she's training, fans are already speculating where she'll work. If you've following WrestleLamia's daily news videos, you know that the WWE is interested in bringing her back.
Mercedes shocked the wrestling world when she and fellow WWE Superstar Naomi walked out on the company in 2022, reportedly due to creative differences with the company. Both women disappeared from WWE TV for some time before news broke that they had been granted their WWE releases.
Banks renamed herself Mercedes Mone, competing in New Japan Pro Wrestling where she got off to a strong start by defeating Kairi (aka WWE Superstar Kairi Sane) for the IWGP Women's Championship.
There are several questions that remain unanswered however. How much longer is Mone signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling for? Is she still interested in working in AEW? Does she have any interest in returning to the WWE after walking out on the company in 2022?Â
While it's believed Mercedes is under contract to New Japan, it's unknown for how long. Rumor also has it that she didn't sign with AEW after leaving the WWE because she didn't want any long-term commitment to any wrestling company. However, there was talk that Mone would work AEW's Forbidden Door 2 pay-per-view. Her injury nixed any chance of this but Mone did appear in the audience at AEW's All In pay-per-view, leading to rumors she'd work in AEW once she was cleared to compete.
In light of AEW's good working relationship with New Japan, it seems plausible that she could work a few dates (or more depending on her wishes) in AEW. However, with talk that the WWE would like her to return, Mone seems to be in the proverbial catbird seat once her New Japan commitments are over. You can be sure that the WWE would love to sign her (even if it was for a limited deal) before she worked in AEW.
For now, fans will have to wait and see what's next for Mone. Where would you like to see Mercedes wrestle?Â
