Major League Wrestling (MLW) announces Matt Riddle will appear at an upcoming big event, leading to speculation about Riddle's role in the company. This follows a recent appearance by Riddle in MLW and the promotion booking a huge match for wrestling's "Ultimate Bro."

MLW today announced Matt Riddle will fight at MLW Intimidation Games’24 live and exclusively on Triller TV+ Thursday, February 29 at the Melrose Ballroom in New York City.

After shattering all records for MLW web traffic and social media analytics with his arrival in MLW, Matt Riddle now looks to wreck the competition when he gets in the ring in New York City LIVE on Triller TV+.

Who will Riddle wrestle? League officials are in discussions with a select level of top tier fighters about a possible match.

A bout announcement is expected in early January.

Riddle's Return to MLW

Riddle returned to MLW at its recent MLW Holiday Rush special and cut a promo informing fans of a huge match he's scheduled for on 6 January.

What’s up, everybody? This is the King of Bros, Matthew Riddle. And I’m looking fresh, because I am in Las Vegas, Nevada for business.

I’m excited to get to MLW, because the one thing that has eluded me since 2018 was the MLW World Championship. And I think on my road back to gold, there’s one person that just stands out. And that man is the baddest man on the planet, bro. So, this new year, I’ll be seeing you soon, Fatu.

This isn't the first time Riddle has competed in MLW. As noted in the aforementioned Cageside Seats article, Riddle competed in MLW in 2017 and 2018. Riddle competed in the MLW World Heavyweight Championship but fell in the finals to Swerve Strickland.

Will 2024 Be Riddle's Comeback Year?

2023 was a lousy year for Matt Riddle as he dealt with alleged disciplinary issues in the WWE that sidelined him for months. Despite a promising career, Riddle's main roster run showed tremendous promise as he enjoyed a role in an extremely popular tag team with Randy Orton (winning the RAW Tag Team Championship not once but twice) and a run with the United States Championship.

While MLW isn't the global stage Riddle performed on in the WWE, it's a good way for him to rebuild his image while competing. While the WWE may not want to take another chance on Riddle, there are other promotions that might consider him if he can show he's reliable.
