Ilja Dragunov has been on the main roster wish-list for fans for some time now, yet it doesn’t look like WWE have any plans to call the NXT Champion up.

According to Fightful Select, Dragunov is not planned for a callup at this time, but is expected to make his way to the main roster upon losing the NXT Title.

Fightful Select notes that in the broader scheme of WWE, the belief of several in NXT is that WWE see Dragunov in the same vein as Intercontinental Champion, Gunther, and Dragunov will receive a similar push upon landing on the main roster (whenever that may be).

The reigning NXT Champion is set to defend the NXT Title against Tony D’Angelo this weekend at NXT: Stand & Deliver.
