"Rock Hard" might've gone too far.
AEW has had a couple of rough months with CM Punk's firing and Jade Cargill's departure to WWE. They can add a controversial storyline to the list due to the Oct. 10th episode of AEW Dynamite due to a promo between AEW World Champion MJF and Bullet Club Gold.
The promo was used to set up a match between MJF and Jay White at Full Gear. During the angle, Juice Robinson interjected to talk about his entry into the Diamond Dozen Battle Royal, where the promo took a bit of a dark turn.
‍
Juice Robinson said he had a “present” for the World Champ and proceeded to take a roll of Quarters out of his pocket with MJF’s surname “Friedman” written on it. Fans all online were heavily outraged, saying that the segment was insensitive and held anti-Semitic tones, with MJF being Jewish and the current ongoing issues between Israel and Palestine.
‍
However, the angle seems to be a work and a tie-in to an event MJF is appearing at, as later on X, MJF tweeted about speaking at Gillette Stadium for the #Stand up to Jewish Hate event on Oct. 12th.
‍
‍
It also appears that AEW fully supports MJF’s choice, as MJF was the person who gave Juice the green light to do the angle and approved of his choice as long as he was comfortable with it.
‍
Are you alright with the storyline? Was this taken too far?
