Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch Both Can Leave the WWE in 2024

Is Seth Rollins' WWE deal expiring in 2024? That's the report coming from Fightful Select (subscription required), which had this to say about the current World Champion's status in the WWE:

“Fightful has learned that Rollins’ in June of 2024, and as of a couple of weeks ago, there haven’t been discussions regarding a contract extension. As you can imagine by his placement on the card, Rollins is well-liked and respected within the company, and we’re told that there will “obviously” be an offer made at some point, with WWE sources even indicating that he’d be made a priority.”

H/T Ringside News

The report notes that the WWE has not disputed the status of Rollins' WWE contract and that a WWE source claims that negotiating the contract will be a priority.

Seth Rollins is another of the many top WWE Superstars with deals expiring in 2024. Other names include Drew McIntyre and Seth's wife, Becky Lynch. In addition, other wrestlers will become free agents in 2024. Ringside News reports that Alex Hammerstone, QT Marshall, Dustin Rhodes, and Deonna Purrazzo will be free to sign elsewhere.

Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, a True Power Couple in Wrestling

Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are a genuine power couple in wrestling, and their status as two of wrestling's top stars (regardless of gender) makes each of them a top free agent. However, their real power could be their value together. While Rollins and Lynch don't have to sign new deals with the same company, the chance for a promotion to have both of them together could multiply their value.

While it's been some time since the WWE booked any matches involving Seth and Becky together, the possibility is always there. Wrestling fandom also knows Seth and Becky are a couple, so there's a certain intangible value to having them both for wrestling and publicity purposes.

Seth and Becky rose to superstardom in the WWE, but that's no guarantee that one or both will remain in the same company. Business is business, and a promoter backing a dump truck full of money could persuade one or both to work elsewhere.

The Advantages of Staying in the WWE

Seth Rollins is 37 and has many years left in his career. Should he spend the next three to five years in the WWE? Rollins has cemented himself into the main event. "The Visionary" has shown over the last five years that he doesn't need a world championship to stay in the main event. His mic abilities, wrestling abilities, and charisma have few equals in the WWE. Seth's talent for keeping his act fresh suggests he'll have no trouble staying relevant as his career progresses.

However, is the WWE the best fit for him? There are advantages to consider.

His Business Relationship with the WWE

Rollins has a solid business relationship with the WWE, including a good relationship with Chief Content Officer Triple H. Seth has shown his willingness to work hurt and do what's best for business, something the WWE recognizes and in his case, will likely reward him for should he stay in the company.

His Relationship with WWE Superstars

Seth Rollins has also earned a good reputation among his fellow wrestlers, creating a more comfortable work environment. Rollins knows what to expect in the WWE, including that the WWE runs a tight ship in terms of backstage morale. Short of a paradigm shift backstage, Rollins doesn't have to concern himself with a volatile locker room.

The WWE's Current Success

Another reason to consider staying in the WWE is the company's current success. Rollins is at the top of the WWE mountain and as a major player, he's going to enjoy more of the WWE's financial success. Although the case can be made that the WWE's Superstars' pay doesn't reflect the company's monster profits, top guys like Rollins always make more money during boom periods.

The Advantages of Leaving the WWE

His Star Could Fall

Seth Rollins is one of the WWE's top five Superstars. However, as the WWE works to bring in new Superstars, can Rollins hope to stay at the top? That's a difficult question to answer. It's difficult to imagine Rollins reaching any greater heights than he's at now. However, the thought of Rollins moving down to the upper card can't be ruled out.

The Chance to Wrestle New Opponents

For some wrestlers, the opportunity to wrestle new opponents is tempting, particularly for someone who has worked in the same promotion for many years. A move to AEW creates many new match-ups for Rollins. It also allows Seth to bring in beaucoup bucks as AEW will do everything to make it worth Rollins' while.

A Lighter Schedule

A lighter schedule could prove very tempting to Rollins. The World Heavyweight Champion works a demanding schedule, appearing regularly on TV and at live events. Rollins may be the type of wrestler who enjoys a busy schedule. However, he may also want to spend more time at home with his daughter. He may also need a lighter schedule to deal with the back issues he has repeatedly mentioned in interviews.

Whatever his decision, Seth Rollins is in a strong bargaining position and it will be interesting to see how he decides.
