Is There Too Much Wrestling?
Is NWA Wrestling coming to the CW? A deal may be announced soon, which could add even more wrestling program to TV. There is currently wrestling on Monday through Friday including content from the WWE, IMPACT Wrestling, and AEW. Wrestling News' Andrew Ravens reminded fans that NWA President Billy Corgan "
‍
recently dropped a teaser regarding big news for his promotion that he purchased in 2017, as he noted that he had signed two TV deals with a top 20 network.

Corgan recently discussed this deal when he appeared on Busted Open Radio:Â
‍
“I can now say for the first time, and I have to be a bit vague because there’s some other political aspects to this,” he prefaced. “I can now say that we finally have signed not just one, but two television deals. And that announcement as far as where and who will be coming soon, but we finally now will be able to move off YouTube, not exclusively, because we want to still do stuff on YouTube. But we now will be moving with a network partner.”

Now, Haus of Wrestling is reporting that the network in question is the CW:
‍
Haus of Wrestling has learned that the “top 20 network” Corgan refers to is The CW. Some logistics are being worked out, but an official announcement should be coming “relatively soon.” The two TV deals that Corgan mentioned are for two different NWA products that will air on The CW: NWA Powerrr and a reality TV show about the day-to-day, behind-the-scenes business of the NWA.

This is huge news for NWAÂ Powerrr fans as it could mean more money for the promotion, money which could be used to bring in new talent. NWAÂ Powerrr has featured some big names, chief among them LAÂ Knight.
The only issue may be whether there's too much wrestling on TV. However, if CWÂ is paying Corgan to air content, it must feel the demand is there and judging from the ratings for the WWEÂ and AEW, networks may see wrestling as an attractive way of obtaining content that has no off-season.
While some critics may think there's already too much wrestling, TV executives look at things differently. Executives want a piece of the action if a program is popular. This can lead to spinoffs (such as viewers have seen with NCIS and FBI) or variations on popular reality shows and game shows. If the CW thinks there's enough demand, they'll want to supply it.
In the end, this is good for wrestling fans as it gives them more variety. NWA Powerrr has a loyal fanbase but not everyone likes watching on YouTube. Now it's up to Corgan to make sure he provides a product that attracts a larger fanbase (at least large enough to make the CW happy).
The Haus of Wrestling report added that other NWAÂ territories could end up on YouTube.
