WrestleMania season is set to be an interesting time for reigning Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. Gunther has to be considered a favourite heading into the Royal Rumble match, yet with Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk being the rumoured plan for the World Title on the grandest stage, this leaves Gunther in a state of flux.
Due to WWE proceeding with Rollins vs. Punk, this opens the door for Gunther to finally have his dream match, and finally collide with Brock Lesnar 1 vs 1. Appearing on Busted Open Radio, The Ring General confirmed that he still wants the epic match, and he wants it to go down at WrestleMania 40 in April:
”WrestleMania 40 is the time for that. Let’s see but I feel in the long run the one name I always bring up is Brock because I feel like I’m the end boss to a lot of people, and I feel like Brock is somebody that has perfected being an end boss and I gotta prove myself with him in the ring too.”
Also, during his appearance on Busted Open Radio, Gunther discussed his feud with The Miz, and in a surprising revelation, Gunther stated that the rivalry with the former WWE Champion is the program that’s benefited him most on the main roster:
“…I enjoy being in the ring with guys who have a similar style to me but I gotta say, I even more enjoy the challenge of being with somebody that is completely different and like, Miz is a polar opposite to what I am but, the guy’s a — he’s in the company for 20 years, he’s an absolute pro and I feel like maybe, besides the thing I did at the beginning with Sheamus, the program I had with Miz was like the thing that benefited me the most so far in my run.”
