Former WWE star, Elias has claimed that he was the one who came up with the “Monday Night Mesiah” gimmick.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, the former Drifter stated:

“I was always coming up with different characters, ways to evolve Elias into the next thing. There was a character that I really thought could have been incredible myself, it was the Monday Might Messiah. And if you realize, Seth Rollins and AOP ended up – for lack of better terms, they just gave it to those guys.”

Elias didn’t come across as bitter or resentful in the interview, as he clearly holds no ill-will towards Rollins.

It would have been interesting to see how he would have done with the character, as he was a tremendous talker, and could have potentially nailed the role.
