This is a bold idea...
It has been heavily reported over the past few weeks that WWE could make an offer to Will Ospreay.
Ospreay is widely regarded as one of the best in-ring talents in the world, and obviously, seeing the talented star face names such as Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins would deliver big business for WWE.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility of Ospreay being WWE-bound, and one idea that Meltzer has heard is the idea of Ospreay becoming the face of the brand-new NXT Europe brand:
“One idea that was thrown out to me was NXT Europe built around Will Ospreay. Now, how much money they’re going to spend on that, and you know the revival of NXT Europe starts, you know that thing of obviously what happened with the original NXT UK and its effect on the independent scene in the UK…”
“But at the same time they didn’t run live events, they just did TV tapings. So, you just don’t know. They’ve got the go-ahead from Endeavor to do it, so you don’t know that that entails.”
If Ospreay does indeed decide to sign with WWE, and opt for a main roster contract, then he would be required to relocate to the US. However, if he becomes the face of the NXT Europe brand, not a ton will have to change in relation to his personal circumstances.
If WWE proceeds with the NXT Europe idea, then it means that Ospreay won’t be on the main roster, and won’t get to participate in the numerous dream matches fans have been booking him in for years.
