Cody Rhodes is opening up about The Rock possibly taking his spot at WrestleMania 40 against Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns. Up until recently, it appeared that "The American Nightmare" would get a rematch against Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, recent events suggest The Rock is going to wrestle Roman Reigns at "The Showcase of the Immortals" instead.

As WrestleMania recently reported in our news video, the WWE's WrestleMania plans may be up in the air (and if not, the WWE is doing a great job keeping fans guessing what will happen in Philadelphia).

However, how does Cody feel if The Rock takes his spot at WrestleMania 40? Rhodes told ESPN:

"I said something on the interview the other day where I feel like I kind of regretted how I answered it because I just sounded like a schmuck when I was saying it, but I mean it's honestly kind of the same answer. No. I don't think so, which is shocking. I get to be able to be a WWE superstar and stand on the shoulders of guys like The Rock. Had they not delivered and excelled and brought sports entertainment to the level it's at, we wouldn't have all this, none of this."

Cody is a business man and he seems committed to doing what's best for wherever he works. Cody reflected on The Rock further as well as his commitment to finishing his story:

"So I have all the respect and love for a guy who filled every house up he was ever in, but when it comes to that specific, I don't consider him in my way. Maybe I'm being naive to it. Maybe he wants to get in. I don't know. But I don't consider him in my way. The Rock is one of the main reasons we're here today. Nothing but respect, but also at the same time, I have to have the respect for myself to know where I'd like to go."

During an interview with Bleacher Report, Rhodes questioned whether The Rock would get in his way when it comes to dethroning Roman:

"You mentioned 'The Great One,' The Rock, nothing but respect for him. I went and saw 'Jungle Cruise,' I'm a Rock fan. I don't think he's the type that would come in and meddle with a story that's been being told over the past two years. I think he's probably up to something else, but you never know with WWE. I'll be watching just like everybody else when I'm not wrestling."
