Why "The -EST" Wants the Match So Badly
Bianca Belair wants a match with Charlotte Flair. While "The -EST" and Charlotte are currently more busy fighting Damage-CTRL, Belair says she thinks a match between her and "The Queen" could be big.
Belair recently appeared on Casual Conversations with The Classic, explaining:
“There hasn't been that one big match yet, and we're all waiting for it…It was a non-finish. So we've never actually had a legit feud and singles match. That's at the top of my list. Of course, right now, it's IYO SKY, getting my title from IYO SKY. Hands down, she's a champion right now. I'm going for her."
As Wrestling News' Andrew Ravens pointed out:
They've worked only three singles matches together since 2020. Their first match was in February 2020 in NXT, while their second outing was on an October 2021 episode of Raw, and their third encounter was later that month on Raw.
This may seem hard to believe, especially since this was during the period when Vince McMahon was still in creative and endless rematches was par for the course. Whether this was by design or just some fortunate circumstances, it means that when the two do square off, it will be a huge match. After all, Belair has been nothing short of dominant since jumping to the main roster. She's also battled some of the WWE's biggest names including her long rivalry with Becky Lynch as well as her feud with Bayley.
"But like a bigger picture. Because for me when I first came into WWE, Charlotte was one of the first people that I looked up to. She has Ric Flair as her dad, but she came into WWE with zero wrestling experience. She was a collegiate athlete, so I saw myself in her, and I remember being in NXT and being like, 'If I'm ever where Charlotte is, I want to have a match with her.' And I think that Belair vs. Flair that's a big match. So I'm hoping that one day it happens. I look forward to the day that it happens because we're like one person I've been kept away from for the most part. We had a triple threat. We've done some tag teams together. I just feel like it's like two different generations, and it's like for us to collide at the mountaintop, and she's the only Horsewoman I have not defeated yet. I was about. That's a goal of mine. So she'll be the fourth that I have to go for. So, to me, that's a dream match of mine, and I hope that it happens one day. I don't think there's a match right now that could be bigger than that match.
Bianca Belair vs Charlotte Flair sounds like a WrestleMania worthy match. However, is it possible the WWE might throw Jade Cargill into the mix or even have Cargill wrestle one of the two at 'Mania 40?Â
With rumors that the WWE wants to save Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch for WrestleMania 40, a Charlotte vs Bianca WrestleMania match seems like the perfect bookend. Now that Damage-CTRL has added Asuka and Kairi Sane, it's also possible that the WWE could add more women to the title hunt including booking a Women's Elimination Chamber Match in Australia for the WWE Women's Championship.
For now, fans will have to wait and see how things play out heading into Survivor Series. With speculation that Damage-CTRL will step into the War Games cages to battle Charlotte, Bianca, and whatever babyfaces are willing to stand up to Damage-CTRL, it could be some time before Charlotte and Bianca throw down.
