What Else Does Wrestling's "Role Model" Want in WWE?
Bayley wants a WrestleMania main event against Sasha Banks, but will it happen? SmackDown's self-proclaimed "Role Model" and the apparent leader of Damage-CTRL recently spoke with Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso about her goals in the WWE.
One of her main missions seems to be landing a WrestleMania main event match against her close friend and on-screen frenemy, Sasha Banks (who now works as Mercedes Mone). Bayley and Banks have had many incredible matches together, both as a team and on the opposite side of each other. Their match at 2015's NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn is already legendary.
Bayley told Barrasso that she is the only member of The Four Horsewomen who hasn't headlined a WrestleMania. However, Bayley believes it will happen.
âOnly a few people believe it will happen. But everyone will believe it soon.â
Mercedes Mone was reportedly in negotiations with WWE, but those talks broke down, apparently over money. The latest rumor is that Mone is close to a deal with AEW, but until she shows up in the promotion, all bets are off. Bayley discussed the rich history between her and Sasha.
âWeâll always be destined for one more match. Our next match will never be our last. Weâre âThe Brooklyn Girlsâ. Weâre going to live on forever because of that match, and itâs something we can carry on forever.â
While Bayley wants her match against Sasha, she still has many other goals. The former "Hugger" discussed how she wants to elevate other talent. Part of that plan has involved her affiliation with Damage-CTRL. The faction had a bumpy start but has blossomed over the last six months with Iyo Sky capturing the WWE Women's Championship and Asuka and Kairi Sane joining the group.
Bayley discussed her time with Damage-CTRL and what it means to her:
âDamage CTRL, itâs worked out for the best for all of us. And there is still more we can do together.â
As far as Bayley is concerned, there's plenty more to do in wrestling:
âI havenât done everything yet. In my opinion, there is still a lot left to get done and I have to make sure it gets done.â

Fans are curious about Bayley's future as a heel. The WWE has hinted for the last few months that Bayley's fellow Damage-CTRL members may be fed up with her. However, if Damage-CTRL boots Bayley out of the group, will she return to playing a babyface? Bayley has been superb as a heel ever since she ditched her long-time babyface persona to join forces with Sasha Banks (who had turned heel a few months before). While some fans doubted whether Bayley could play as a heel after years as her family-friendly "Hugger" character, she proved naysayers wrong.
Bayley has mastered the art of being a heat magnet while also expanding her in-ring repertoire to take advantage of her heel side. Current Bayley fans might be disappointed if she returned to being a babyface.
However, fans shouldn't rule out Bayley continuing to play a heel, perhaps forming a new faction of heels to join her against Damage-CTRL. It's also possible Damage-CTRLÂ could turn babyface. There are many possible scenarios and the WWE's improved storytelling suggests there could be several strong storylines involving Bayley as she feuds with her former faction.
Would you like to see Bayley battle Sasha Banks in the main event at WrestleMania? Do you think it could happen?
