Zero Hour: Katsuyori Shibata and Orange Cassidy vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty)
Zero Hour: Matt Sydal vs. Trent Beretta
Marking his first spot of in-ring competition since betraying Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta displayed a new vicious side to his in-ring style, focusing on the neck of Matt Sydal. The former Evan Bourne fought back with fire in front of his hometown audience, spurred on at ringside by his brother Mike, before a flying knee strike - the same move Beretta used to turn on Orange Cassidy - sent Sydal back. A modified triangle choke granted Trent the submission win, though a post-match beatdown brought Chuck Taylor to the ring. Beretta offered his long-time partner an ultimatum to pick a side between him and Cassidy by this Wednesday’s (April 24) Dynamite. Orange Cassidy confronted Trent Beretta on the stage.
With newest member Anthony Ogogo joining the commentary booth for the match - when he wasn’t attempting to interject himself into the action - Shane Taylor Promotions used their excellent size and speed combination to easily overpower Katsuyori Shibata and Orange Cassidy. A Shane Taylor struggle to Package Piledriver Cassidy saw him choked out by Shibata, who removed him from the match via a stiff PK Kick. Orange Cassidy followed shortly thereafter with an Orange Punch to Moriarty to end the bout.
The unification of AEW and ROH’s trios titles was slightly marred instantly following a derogatory pre-match comment from Max Caster. Alas, Caster and friends were cut off throughout the match, as Jay White and The Gunns dominated proceedings, including at one point striking Billy Gunn in the back with a golden baseball bat. Expectedly breaking down as all multi-man contests eventually do, finishers were traded that concluded when Jay White downed ‘Daddy Ass’ with a Bladerunner to unify the duelling sets of six-man titles. The Acclaimed’s reign ends at 238 days.

An expectedly scintillating match saw Kazuchika Okada and PAC lay everything on the line for ‘The Rainmaker’s’ Continental Championship, with Okada playing up his new-found heelish tactics by brutally DDTing PAC on the ringside floor whereas ‘The B*stard’ fought back with grit and intensity as he sought his first taste of AEW singles gold. Tombstone Piledrivers were traded late in the match, though a knees-to-the-face counter to PAC’s Black Arrow attempt allowed Kazuchika Okada to land a Rainmaker for the win. Kazuchika Okada’s reign continues at 32 days.
Playing on a match-long tease for a showdown between Adam Copeland and Malakai Black, the six-man tag team match was a gritty bout, as Eddie Kingston - wearing Toshiaki Kawada tribute gear - paid homage to his puroresu heroes in hard-hitting fashion. The House of Black relied on their expertise as a cohesive unit to control portions of the match, while Copeland, Kingston, and Mark Briscoe opted for a more wild, spontaneous style, which involved a triple Spear. Another Spear from Copeland was countered by Malakai Black spraying mist in his face and downing him with The End spin kick.
With Kris Statlander barred from ringside, Willow Nightingale was on an even playing field vs. defending AEW TBS Champion, Julia Hart, minus Stokely Hathaway on commentary, and thus, both were frantic to end the match early to head to Double or Nothing as champion. A Hartless attempt was avoided by the challenger and a top-rope Moonsault was countered with two feet to the face, followed by a Doctor Bomb as Willow Nightingale became the new AEW TBS Champion. She was confronted post-match by Mercedes Moné, setting up their match for May 26’s Double or Nothing. Julia Hart’s reign ends at 156 days.

A highly emotional affair between former friends, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly matched each other toe-for-toe, trading signature moves and wrist control in an evenly-fought bout. The Undisputed Kingdom’s Wardlow emerged towards the end of the match, providing enough of a distraction that, ultimately, Roderick Strong put O’Reilly away following an End of Heartache. Following the match, Adam Cole, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett appeared on-stage, with Cole revealing that he no longer required the use of his wheelchair. In-ring, he gave Wardlow a side-eye, hinting at dissension between him and the former TNT Champion. Roderick Strong’s reign continues at 50 days.
Contested under the traditional FTW Rules the namesake championship entails, Chris Jericho did everything in his power to teach HOOK a lesson, though the defending champion put up a strong fight, putting Jericho through a table and kicking out of two Judas Effects. A low blow and subsequent smack to the head with his baseball bat was enough for Chris Jericho to add his name to the small list of FTW Champions while Taz - the belt’s originator - attended to his fallen son. HOOK’s reign ends at 238 days.

With Thunder Rosa taking the fight to ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm from the offset, Storm was left having to fight back hard, making use of her Joshi prowess to brutalise Rosa. The involvement of Mariah May and Luther at ringside was later removed by Deonna Purrazzo, but a distracted referee left Toni Storm able to kick Thunder Rosa below the belt and connect with a second Storm Zero Piledriver to continue her eloquent reign atop the AEW women’s division. ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm’s reign continues at 156 days.
In what is one of the best professional wrestling matches you’ll ever see, Will Ospreay and Bryan Danielson wrestled an instant classic that meshed their styles perfectly. Counters were aplenty throughout, with one such example seeing ‘The American Dragon’ expertly evade an OsCutter by kneeing Ospreay in the skull. As the near-falls got closer to ending the bout, it was a modified Hidden Blade, Tiger Driver ‘91, and Hidden Blade that scored Will Ospreay the three count in what is already being described as the greatest wrestling match on United States soil. Danielson was tended to by the medical crew post-match, with noticeable swelling on his right upper chest.
Put in a difficult position by having to follow Bryan Danielson vs. Will Ospreay, The Young Bucks and FTR produced a stellar Ladder match over the vacant World Tag Team Championships, each duo attempting to lift the gold for the third time. Dax Harwood would be cut open early on, covering the ring and its surrounding areas in blood, while a bevvy of ladders and tables would be destroyed. As a bloodied Harwood seemed set to pull down the titles, a masked figure - revealed as the returning Jack Perry - knocked him from atop the ladder, in essence handing Matthew and Nicholas Jackson the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

With Samoa Joe dominating the early portion of the match by keeping Swerve Strickland grounded, Strickland eventually fought his way back, albeit after eating a nasty Powerslam on the exposed concrete floor. A Muscle Buster from Joe and Swerved Stomp from Strickland both weren’t enough to get either man the three count, though a second emotional double stomp to the chest of Joe granted Swerve Strickland the AEW World Championship, making him AEW’s first African American World Champion. Samoa Joe’s reign ends at 112 days.
