What Show Will Air Against Dynamite?

AEW Dynamite may have stiff competition this March. Is the WWE moving NXT to Wednesdays? No, there's another popular show coming to Wednesday nights and while it's not being booked to compete against Dynamite directly, it could impact its ratings.

Wrestling News' Andrew Ravens is reporting:

It was announced this week that Family Guy is set to air on a night other than Sunday for the first time in more than two decades as FOX released its midseason schedule, showing it will be moving the beloved cartoon series to Wednesday nights in March.

FOX Moves Family Guy to Wednesday but Why?

TV viewers who have been agonizing over the lack of new content featuring their favorite shows can rest assured that Hollywood is doing its best to deliver new content as soon as possible. According to a report from Collider, the following is FOX's lineup for Wednesday nights starting on 6 March 2024:

8-9 PM ET/PT — The Masked Singer
9-9:30 PM ET/PT — Animal Control
9:30-10 PM ET/PT — Family Guy

For those wondering why Family Guy is moving from its long-time home on Sunday nights, FOX is putting a new animated series Grimsburg in its place on Sundays. Screenrant's Abdullah Al-Ghamdi

The idea may well be that the Griffins are established enough that the audience, built up for decades, will follow the show wherever it goes. It may even boost Animal Control in the process. With this change, Fox is giving newer shows a chance at building off that decades-long relationship, whether by attaching to the Sunday animation block or coming on after a long-established hit like Family Guy.

Should AEW Be Concerned?

AEW's biggest competition appears to be sports programming. As fans have seen on Friday and Saturday nights, Rampage and Collision often get pasted in the ratings due to various sporting events.

While Family Guy could put a dent in Dynamite's ratings, this depends on 1) whether Family Guy fans tune in on Wednesdays (or DVR) the show on Wednesdays and 2) whether the shows leading up to Family Guy do well. While Family Guy traditionally pulls in strong ratings, The Masked Singer has been faring very well too.

AEW Dynamite's ratings have stabilized despite some setbacks in 2023 and now, it needs to focus on growing its existing audience.

Do you think this move will affect Dynamite's ratings?
