Deonna Purrazzo def. Thunder Rosa by Pinfall (The Buy In)

Wrestling a technically sound contest that played beautifully off of each competitor’s deft skillsets, Deonna Purrazzo and Thunder Rosa went hold-for-hold with one another before ‘The Virtuosa’ preyed on Rosa’s weakened left shoulder. The former AEW Women’s World Champion bounced back with some unique submission offence that tired out Purrazzo, who herself bounced back into the match with a tribute to her husband, Steve Maclin. A grounded Cobra Clutch from Rosa almost secured her the submission victory before Deonna, who reversed Thunder Rosa’s bounce off the bottom rope, into a pinning predicament, grabbing a hold of the ropes to pick up the three count.

Tony Khan and Dr Martha Hart confirmed the third annual Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, with the winners of each tournament earning a future World Championship opportunity at All In; the tournament finals were set for the July 10 Dynamite in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens, Max Caster & Billy Gunn) def. The Cage of Agony (Brian Cage & The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)) by Pinfall (The Buy In)

Although the match took a few minutes to get going as Billy Gunn and Brian Cage instead focused on showing off their respective physiques, this trios match focused heavily on The Cage of Agony controlling proceedings. With a taped-up Anthony Bowens laid out at ringside for much of the match, the Brian Cage-led group dominated his teammates with a series of double and triple-team offence. The hot tag to Billy Gunn allowed a fierce comeback for The Acclaimed as ‘Daddy A**’ hit his One & Only slam on Bishop Kaun. Chance, the mascot of the Vegas Golden Knights, thwarted a steel chair use from The Cage of Agony, allowing Gunn to surprise Bishop Kaun with a small package for the three count.

AEW International Championship: Will Ospreay def. Roderick Strong by Pinfall to win the AEW International Championship

In what was an expectedly scintillating contest, Will Ospreay’s challenge of Roderick Strong’s International Championship kicked off hot with ‘The Aerial Assassin’ ambushing Roddy, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett during their entrance, with Taven and Bennett minutes later scarily dropping Will on his neck with a ringside Doomsday Device. Ospreay’s leg would become the focus of Strong’s attention throughout the counter-heavy match after an awkward landing, with Wardlow later entering the ring to do further damage, leading to he, Taven, and Bennett being ejected from ringside. Will Ospreay’s reluctance to perform the perilous Storm Driver ‘93, demanded from him by Don Callis, almost cost him the bout before, finally, he nailed the Stormbreaker for the three count and his first piece of gold in AEW. Roderick Strong’s reign ends at 84 days.

Adam Cole entered the arena as Will Ospreay departed, referencing the Devil mask. He was interrupted by loud MJF chants and a vignette before MJF returned for the first time in five months, laying out Cole, namedropping Vince McMahon, declaring that he was now driven by hate, not friendships, and stomping on the Devil mask. He ended his segment confirming that he was staying with AEW after almost two years of suspense surrounding his contractual status.

AEW World Trios Championships: The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White & The Gunns (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn)) def. Death Triangle (PAC & The Lucha Bros (Penta el Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix)) by Pinfall to retain the AEW World Trios Championships

A scorching start from PAC allowed Death Triangle to stay alive for much of the match, as the Geordie and The Lucha Bros made use of some unique trios offence to keep the defending champions on their toes, though this was cut down by The Bang Bang Gang’s petulance for cheap tactics. A spike Fear Factor and subsequent Tope Suicida wiped out Austin and Colten Gunn later in the match but, as PAC attempted his beautiful Black Arrow, he was knocked off the turnbuckles by a returning Juice Robinson, allowing Jay White to down PAC with the Bladerunner to retain the titles. The Bang Bang Gang’s reign continues at 35 days.

AEW Women’s World Championship: ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm def. Serena Deeb by Pinfall to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship

In what was arguably ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm’s toughest test to date as AEW Women’s World Champion, Serena Deeb took the fight to her, targeting her left leg throughout the match that, at one point, saw Luther stop Mariah May from throwing in the towel while Deeb had Storm trapped in a half Boston Crab. Both managed to kick out of one another’s finishers, as ‘The Professor’ evaded a loss following a Storm Zero while Toni kicked out following two Deebtox’s, including one on the ring apron. Eventually, two more Storm Zeros, the first of which came from off the top rope, gained ‘The Timeless One’ the three count as her dominance as AEW Women’s World Champion continued. ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm’s reign continues at 190 days.

Orange Cassidy def. Trent Beretta by Pinfall

Both men entered to different entrance tracks, as Trent Beretta debuted a new theme outright while Orange Cassidy returned to his roots, appearing to the tune of Where Is My Mind?, all while prospective manager Don Callis joined the commentary booth. The match was fiercely fought, both men adding an extra layer of intensity to their strikes, with Cassidy even forgoing his usual nonchalant kicks to stomp a mudhole in his former ally. A gnarly Gotch-style Piledriver on the ring apron could have got the job done for Trent, whereas a Beach Break at ringside could’ve done the same for OC. Back in the ring, an attempted Gogoplata submission hold was reversed by Orange Cassidy into a pin for the three. Post-match, Trent Beretta denied Renee Paquette’s requests for an interview as he stated he was “done”, before shoving away long-time friend Rocky Romero and exiting via the crowd.

FTW Championship: Chris Jericho def. HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata by Pinfall to retain the FTW Championship

Having both earned this FTW Championship match, HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata worked together for much of the match, taking defending champion Chris Jericho to the limit through the use of kendo sticks, tables, and dice. Jericho took a nasty bump at one point, landing on the arch of his neck from a double back Suplex, while HOOK, too, suffered a nasty landing from a Shibata-executed top-rope Death Valley Driver onto Jericho, who was laying on a table. Big Bill interfered later on, attacking HOOK but was put through a table - and almost impaled - on a table for his troubles. A double submission to Jericho, a la HOOK and Shibata’s three-way with Bryan Keith, was broken up by ‘The Bounty Hunter’ himself, who flattened a trash can-wearing Shibata with a pouncing Senton to hand Jericho the win. HOOK laid out a trio of security guards in pursuit of the champion post-match. Chris Jericho’s reign continues at 35 days.

IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator: Jon Moxley def. Konosuke Takeshita by Pinfall

Although the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship was not being defended, both Jon Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita wrestled as if it were. Takeshita targeted Mox’s weakened shoulder with a barrage of offence, including shoving him into the ring post and trapping it inside a steel chair before stomping on it at ringside. Moxley retaliated with some stiff strikes and, further into the match, he reversed Konosuke’s Power Drive Knee into a Paradigm Shift, though he was unable to capitalise with a successful pin. Takeshita’s own Paradigm Shift failed to get him the win, resulting in him introducing a series of steel chairs into the ring, however, Jon Moxley recuperated in time, Curb Stomped him onto one of the weapons, and hit a second Paradigm Shift to put Takeshita down.

AEW TNT Championship Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match: Adam Copeland def. Malakai Black by TKO to retain the AEW TNT Championship

With both men instantly attempting their finishers to no avail, the barbed wire aspect of the steel cage quickly came into play as Adam Copeland used the strands to make Malakai Black’s blood gush from his forehead, though it wouldn’t take long for Black to eventually down ‘The Rated R Superstar’ with his The End spin kick. Black, too, would Sunset Flip Powerbomb Copeland through a table and Big Boot him into the cage door, busting the lock and sending the champion flying out to ringside. The House of Black’s Brody King and Buddy Matthews arrived, feigning siding with Copeland before helping Malakai set the former Edge up for the match’s end. There, the lights flickered as Gangrel emerged from beneath the ring, laying out Black and Matthews, and allowing Adam Copeland to knock out Malakai Black with a barbed wire-assisted Crossface. Copeland would retrieve his wedding ring from around Black’s neck post-match. Adam Copeland’s reign continues at 67 days.

Lexy Nair interviewed Don Callis backstage, who claimed he would offer a Don Callis Family contract to Orange Cassidy on this Wednesday’s (May 29) Dynamite.

AEW TBS Championship: Mercedes MonĂŠ def. Willow Nightingale by Pinfall to win the AEW TBS Championship

With both competitors gunning for each other’s ankles - Mercedes to gain a matter of retribution over Willow and Willow doing so as a result of Mercedes’ very real injury - the match was mat-focused, staying in second gear until Willow Powerbombed ‘The CEO’ onto the ring apron in a sickening display. Moné’s quick, light-footed repertoire was out in full force as the match progressed, nailing a Meteora dive to ringside but, as she got back into the ring, she was downed via Dangerous Babe Bomb from Nightingale, however, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway were inadvertently distracting the referee as Willow went for the pinfall. A second attempt was countered by Mercedes, who instead hit a Moné Maker to lift her first taste of gold in All Elite Wrestling. Willow Nightingale’s reign ends at 35 days.

Following the match, Kris Statlander shoved Stokely Hathaway to the mat as he berated the now-former champion, before slamming Willow Nightingale onto the ramp, signalling the end of their friendship as she crushed a friendship bracelet that had been gifted to her by Willow.

AEW World Championship: Swerve Strickland def. Christian Cage by Pinfall to retain the AEW World Championship

In a match full of outside interference, Christian Cage used every trick in the book in the hopes of lifting the AEW World Championship, from attempting to expose a turnbuckle to getting The Patriarchy involved in the match. This didn’t always work out well for him, though, as Nick Wayne, Killswitch, and Mother Wayne would all be ejected from ringside, as would Prince Nana from Swerve Strickland’s corner after referee Paul Turner believed he was about to use the championship belt on ‘The Patriarch’. Cage came close to championship glory after Swerve collided face-first with the steel steps and was subsequently Speared, but a Swerved Stomp on the Spanish announcer’s table, followed in-ring by a normal Swerved Stomp and House Call to mark his first successful pay-per-view defence as AEW World Champion. Swerve Strickland’s reign continues at 35 days.

Anarchy In The Arena: The Elite (Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry & The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson)) def. Team AEW (Bryan Danielson, Darby Allin & FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood)) by Pinfall

In the wildest match in AEW’s five-year history, the third Anarchy in the Arena match will be remembered for years to come. Between The Young Bucks’ use of thumbtack-coated trainers, Jack Perry crashing a bus into Darby Allin, and Allin subsequently setting Perry alight with a flamethrower, Anarchy in the Arena was full of its adjective. Blood soaked the ring and surrounding areas, with Tony Khan also being dragged from his position backstage as ‘Scapegoat’ Jack Perry wanted to inflict further damage. The match would eventually end when Perry, burned, executed a Bryan Danielson-esque running knee to ‘The American Dragon’ while a bloodied Darby Allin hung upside down from the ceiling.
