Fourth-generation McMahon hadn’t been associated with WWE since January 2023.
Stephanie McMahon has returned to WWE.
Appearing during night two of WrestleMania 40, the one-time WWE Women’s Champion welcomed fans to ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’, reaffirming her husband’s claims from the previous evening that this is the beginning of the Paul Levesque Era; for that reason, WrestleMania 40 is the most proud Stephanie has been of any ‘Mania. Per Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, her return was seemingly kept under wraps backstage; her segment was reportedly listed internally as being a Triple H promo.
Stephanie McMahon, 47, has remained a divisive performer in front of the cameras, constantly viewed as being unwilling to put her rivals over. Behind the scenes, however, Stephanie has been instrumental in each role she held with her parents’ market-leading wrestling organisation, working her way up from entry-level positions to, in her final role with the company, Chairwoman of WWE.
Stephanie McMahon left WWE, officially, in January 2023, mere days after her father, Vince McMahon, declared his return to the company. He had previously stepped down from his WWE commitments that July amidst a sea of historical allegations surfacing. In retirement, Vince McMahon named his daughter and Nick Khan as co-CEOs, with Stephanie also taking over as Chairwoman, a role she had held in the interim for a month beforehand.
Before taking over from her father, though, Stephanie McMahon took to Twitter in May 2022 to announce a leave of absence from the sports entertainment giant. She wrote:
“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
It is unknown at this time if Stephanie McMahon has returned to WWE in an official capacity.
